The mission of the diversity committee is to:
- Promote scientific understanding of issues on multicultural psychology to advance the lives of children and families.
- Promote and advance educational and training opportunities for SCCAP members identifying from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop and promote initiatives on psychological science and practice to advance the welfare of a diverse society.
Committee priorities:
The Diversity Committee’s current focus is to improve SCCAP’s integration of multiculturalism in the science and practice of clinical child and adolescent psychology, to develop research awards for student and early career members, to increase the leadership pipeline for members who represent diverse groups, and to create opportunities for all members to improve their cultural humility.
