In recognition of his contributions to the profession of psychology, and dedication to advancing the mental health of children, adolescents, and families, the Board of Directors of the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP), Division 53 of the American Psychological Association (APA) has selected Eric A Youngstrom, PhD as the recipient of the 2022 R. Bob Smith, III Excellence in Psychological Assessment Award. The R. Bob Smith PhD Excellence in Award is given to an individual that has made significant contributions to the field related to evidence-based assessment.
We are delighted to present Dr. Youngstrom with this award in recognition of his thoughtful leadership in defining the process of evidence-based assessment, and your empirical research that improves clinical assessment instruments for making better differential diagnoses, optimizing predictions about future functioning, and monitoring treatment progress, especially for bipolar disorder. Moreover, his dissemination efforts have been truly important, including efforts to create free online screening tools that may be used by youth and families to understand their mental health needs, as well as your dissemination of public-domain assessment materials for professionals. The mission of SCCAP is to encourage the development and advancement of clinical child and adolescent psychology through the integration of its scientific and professional aspects. Consistent with this value, the award also contains a focus on disseminating Dr. Younstrom’s work to our members and to the broader field. SCCAP members that attend the Smith webinar presented by Dr. Youngstrom on October 28 will receive 1 free CEU.
