APA Convention 2026 (Aug 6-8): See you in Washington D.C.!
As we near the end of 2025, we want to remind you of the call for abstracts with the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP, Division 53) for the 2026 APA Convention from August 6-8 in Washington D.C.! See below for more details. The abstract portal is now open and submissions are due by January 14, 2026: https://convention.apa.org/proposals.
SCCAP is committed to supporting clinical child and adolescent psychologists at every career stage and helping them thrive in diverse roles and settings. As such, our overarching theme for the convention will be “Equipping Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychologists for Real-World Success and Lifelong Practice.” Programming focused on essential skills and knowledge that extend beyond training, but are critical to success across settings, is welcomed. We also encourage programming that upholds the vision of SCCAP: to improve the mental health and resilient development of children, adolescents, and families with a full commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
We invite submissions for individual poster presentations, symposia, critical conversations, and skill-building sessions, and we especially welcome proposals that address educational topics that are often underdeveloped in formal training but are critical for real-world success. These may include, but are not limited to, practical strategies for career advancement, navigation of diverse career paths, and engagement in leadership roles beyond academia.
Submissions due January 14, 2026
We hope to receive proposals in a variety of formats from a range of presenters. Perspectives from members of underrepresented groups are extremely valuable to our community and are warmly encouraged towards submission and participation in this conference. Individuals across settings and degree status (i.e., trainees, early career professionals, practicing psychologists, researchers, and academics) are all invited to submit proposals, as we value your contributions to our community of learning and collaboration! Please note that if accepted, you must register for the APA convention prior to your presentation.
We look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your important work! Please direct any inquiries about proposals to the APA convention chairs, Drs. Sarah Dickinson and Samantha Gregus Slade.
