APA Convention 2027 (Aug 12-14): See you in San Francisco!
As we near the end of 2026, we want to remind you of the call for abstracts with the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP, Division 53) for the 2027 APA Convention from August 12-14 in San Francisco! See below for more details. The abstract portal is now open and submissions are due by January 13, 2027: https://convention.apa.org/proposals.
As clinical child and adolescent psychologists increasingly balance demands across research, training, and practice settings, the need for accessible, evidence-based tools has never been greater. Our 2027 convention theme, “From Lab to Real Life: Practical Tools for Enhancing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care,” highlights innovative approaches that translate scientific advances into practical applications for children, adolescents, and families. Programming that equips psychologists with tangible resources for use across clinical, educational, community, and research settings is especially encouraged. We welcome submissions that offer concrete strategies, including assessment instruments, case formulation frameworks, syntax, intervention tools, supervision techniques, implementation strategies, and culturally responsive practices designed for diverse populations and settings.
We invite submissions for individual poster presentations, symposia, critical conversations, and skill-building sessions, and we especially welcome proposals addressing novel assessment methods, treatment innovations, and clinically actionable resources for psychologists across career stages. Successful submissions will provide attendees with practical knowledge, skills, and resources that can be readily integrated into clinical practice, training, research, and advocacy while advancing SCCAP’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and the resilient development of children, adolescents, and families.
Submissions due January 13, 2027
We hope to receive proposals in a variety of formats from a range of presenters. SCCAP encourages and welcomes proposals from applicants with diverse backgrounds with respect to age, disability, gender, geography, nationality, race, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Individuals across settings and degree status (i.e., trainees, early career professionals, practicing psychologists, researchers, and academics) are all invited to submit proposals, as we value your contributions to our community of learning and collaboration! Please note that if accepted, you must register for the APA convention prior to your presentation.
We look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your important work! Please direct any inquiries about proposals to the APA convention chairs, Drs. Samantha Gregus Slade and Josh Golt.
